Weather Policy

We play rain or shine. In the event of heavy rain which may flood fields, we will notify team managers at least 90 minutes before game start time. If there is no notification by that time, then the decision will be made onsite by the referee or facilities manager.

In the event a game unexpectedly ends early (weather, problems with the field, problem with the lights, etc.), the result will be official if at least the first half has been completed. If not, the league will schedule a time to finish the remainder of the game. It is up to the league to decide when a game is or is not official; only dangerous or unreasonable conditions prevent a game from going forward as scheduled. Game length may be adjusted to maintain the schedule or to compensate for bad weather.

Lightning Policy

The safety of our players and fans is of the highest importance. Referees will monitor the weather and games will be played unless one of the following occurs. The referee will make the final decision. At some facilities the facilities manager will make the decision.

  • There is lightning close to the field. If you see the flash and hear the thunder less than 30 seconds after the flash, the match will be suspended until it is safe to play. Players MUST wait a minimum of 30 minutes from the LAST event where the light to sound is less than 30 seconds. The Referee may wait longer if he/she decides it is still dangerous to play.
  • If you are surrounded by lightning on 3 or more sides, the match MUST be suspended even if the light to sound is greater than 30 seconds. You must wait at least 30 minutes after lightning no longer appears to surround the field.
